We chose WWOOFing because we love the idea of combining travel with meaningful work and cultural exchange. As physiotherapists, we enjoy being active and helping others, and WWOOFing allows us to contribute in a hands-on way while learning valuable skills. We want to experience sustainable farming, connect with locals, and step outside our comfort zone. Working outdoors, learning new skills, and being part of a community really appeals to us. We also see it as a great opportunity to slow down, appreciate nature, and gain a deeper understanding of different ways of life.

We live in the Yarra Valley on 5 acres of bush, gardens and paddocks, in a house that carries the history of the area. We are aiming to establish a self-sufficient, sustainable farm with organic orchard, veggie patch & farm animals. In 2009 we were affected by bushfire and ever since we have been trying not only to improve the property's character and charm, but also prepare it to the next fire season On our farm you can enjoy not only the company of our family (there are 4 of us), but also all the animals: 3 dogs, a cat, parrots, peacocks, pheasants and chooks. You can experience farm life while making jams, chopping wood, feeding animals, organising veggie patch as well as fixing fencing, planting trees and preparing property for different weather condition. Accommodation for 2 people in our home (spare rooms) or caravan. Mixed diet. Work hours are flexible as we have the policy of "work must be done."

Why I want to join is quite simple. I want to get to know the Australian country life but not only that. I want to work on a few farms. I want to learn more about permaculture and get to know the lives of people, animals and plants...I hope for a really great experience.

2 ¼ acre private house and garden. Fruit trees, vegetable garden, landscaped ornamental borders, plus antique furniture restoration workshop. We are in our late 60's and have just moved here from the UK. These gardens here are a little neglected but have great potential. We have both worked in a wide variety of jobs, mostly self-employed. We have both worked professionally as cooks and eat well, mostly organic food. Rick has worked as a sports coach at a high level and for 35 years in the antiques trade as a restorer and has been involved with wwoof since 1975. Pat has a degree in psychology and worked in the Australian health service, she also a post grad degree in botanical conservation. She has also been involved with the “Deep Ecology” movement since its beginnings. Our wwoofers tend to find us interesting and relaxed and reasonably well behaved.

There are three reasons why I started WWOOF. The first is because I wanted to improve various skills such as agriculture and cooking. The second reason is that I want to interact with many people around the world. The third is to train my English skills.

I joined this community to find different experiences where the main focus is on human relationships rather than money. I find it fascinating to live inside another culture, to learn and understand part of its history. I love exchanging life philosophies and sharing different foods.

I am a home gardener looking to improve my skills in growing my own food. I have always loved cooking and discovering new foods which lead me to start gardening. I have a simple patch in my family's home and I get lots of joy out of it. I am looking for something hands-on to do during the school holidays.

Last year I did a couple months of WWOOFing in Japan which was an incredible experience. My motivation to go WWOOFing in Australia is to meet and be inspired by people living alternative lifestyles here and learn more about different permaculture techniques, design and philosophy.

I joined WWOOF because I was looking for a good alternative to work and travel. As I'm only travelling for a few months, the working holiday visa isn't worth it for me and wwoofing offers a great opportunity to work and get to know the people and the country anyway. Moreover I'm very interested in agriculture/farming and I would love to expand my knowledge in this field.

I joined WWOOF because I want to experience authentic farm life, work closely with animals, and learn new practical skills while contributing to a meaningful project. Growing up around horses and nature, I have always felt connected to farm life. Now, I want to deepen my knowledge by working on sustainable farms, helping with daily tasks, and learning directly from experienced hosts. For me, WWOOFing is more than just volunteering—it’s about gaining hands-on experience, meeting inspiring people, and embracing a simpler, more fulfilling way of life. I’m eager to share my energy, motivation, and passion for animals while discovering new places and cultures.

I´ve always loved being outside and spending time in nature. My parents have a beautiful garden where I grew up, that´s how I learned gardening from an early age. I love animals and grew up caring for cats and chickens, today I live in a city that´s why I want to spend some of my free time working with or around animals. I enjoy gardening a lot and I would like to learn more about building and fixing things. Physical work is no problem for me as I´m a sporty person and I find it very rewarding working surrounded by nature. I´m also interested in learning more about organic and sustainable farming.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
