‘Yulunga’ is an eco-arts community in the lush hills of Barkersvale, an hour inland from Byron Bay, near Nimbin & Lismore. Yulunga faces the Border Ranges NP & is surrounded by subtropical rainforests, native animals and amazing birdlife. Our community consists of organic gardens, exotic fruit orchards, musicians, artists, environmental activists & passionate gardeners. WWOOFer volunteering includes tending gardens, orchards, building & nursery work. You can swim in the local creek after work. We welcome earthy, hardworking & self-motivated people. Accommodation is for 1-3 in our home or in a shack with own outdoor kitchen. Vegetarians and Vegans can be catered for. We usually negotiate length of stays after an initial visit of 2-3 days. We can pick up from Nimbin or possibly arrange pick up from Lismore.

The future of our planet depends on restoring soil health and reducing the risks of monoculture farming, which relies heavily on chemical fertilisers and GMO seeds promoted by monopolistic agribusiness. I am interested to learn more about the best practices in organic, permaculture and sustainable agriculture as well as gain skills to become a self-sufficient homesteader by helping and learning from experienced farmers around the world.

I am eager to learn new skills and broaden my horizon. In fact, that is the whole reason I started travelling in the first place. I want to try new things, gain new perspectives, connect with other cultures and drink in every lesson that no school can teach me. WWOOFing seems like a great way to travel and explore Australia, while also contributing something. Living, learning, and working with Australian families allows you to get to know the country beyond the big cities and gives you unique and invaluable experiences that you cannot make anywhere else.

An old farmhouse on 11 acres smack bang in the middle of the stunningly beautiful King Island. We have recently purchased the property and there’s not even a garden bed at the moment, it’s a blank canvas. After decades of roaming the world, this will be our forever home.

I'm very motivated by the idea of taking part in projects linked to nature, manual work or learning new skills. I love animals and was born and raised with dogs. I also want to meet and understand a new culture. For me, that means exchanging with local people. For me, woofing is a great opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and discover new things, both human and environmental.

After I finished University, I wanted to take some time away to experience something different. I wanted to experience new places and cultures and spend some time outdoors volunteering. Wwoofing is a great way to do this. I enjoy spending time in nature and learning new things and I am fit and strong. I have spent much of the last 9 months wwoofing in a variety of different countries such as  Germany, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand and now Australia. It had been a really valuable and amazing experience.

I think it's a great opportunity to experience while learning, and it might be helpful to someone. Also, I think that being able to meet many different people will have a good influence on each other and enhance my life in Australia.

I want to join WWOOF because I will be travelling to Australia for my working holiday in a few weeks. I already have some experience working on farms and I am a very nature-loving person. A few years ago, I worked on a organic farm for two weeks as a part of a school project. I took on tasks such as weeding, harvesting and chopping wood. I also fed animals. Furthermore, in the ninth grade, I helped out on a different farm every Tuesday for a few weeks, harvesting apples, pressing apple juice, harvesting vegetables and preparing them for sale. In the 11th grade, as part of a school project, I completed a small farming machine driving licence.
