I first joined WWOOF during my exchange semester in Switzerland, where some friends and I spent time working on a farm in the north. It was an unforgettable experience - we helped with harvesting, cooking, composting, digging manure, and caring for the animals. One of the most memorable parts was building a traditional Mongolian yurt from scratch. We took charge of constructing wooden staircases using saws, hammers, and drills - something I’d never imagined doing, but found deeply fulfilling. Through it all, we learnt so much about Swiss farming practices and rural life, and it opened my eyes to a different rhythm of living. Coming from Singapore, where life moves fast and pressure is high, I’ve always found nature to be my grounding space. I joined WWOOF not just to escape the pace of city life, but to connect more deeply with people, places, and ways of living that are rooted in care, effort, and community. As someone who values sustainability and hopes to become an educator, WWOOF gives me the chance to gain hands-on experience, learn things I could never learn from a textbook, and contribute meaningfully to something larger than myself. I hope to grow not just in skill, but in perspective - and to carry these lessons with me as I move forward in life.

(Letitia) I have done several volunteers on construction working which a different group of people each time, and it was such a great ambiance and kindly experience. I just assume it is a natural way of living and being with the other one. Guillaume has working on apricot harvests during few months and he has enjoyed so much doing the work, meeting friends and being in a rural atmosphere. He has grown up in a small village so he likes when agriculture products are valued and the people who made it. We decided to join WWOOF because we are curious of the way of living in farms or other ecological practices, because we think that alimentation and taking care of our environment is not enought taking seriously this days and we have to adapt our way of consuming. We think that wwoofing is a great opportunity to meet local people, to help them in their daily life and in echange to discover their culture. Local stories are always the best way of travelling.

I joined WWOOF because I want to try farm life and meet local people. I also want to improve my English. I’ve always been interested in organic farming, so I think this is a good chance for me.

We joined WWOOF to be able to travel in Australia while discovering the culture, agriculture and animals. We are 2 friends who have been on an adventure for at least 1 year and we find Woofing to be a very good alternative to travel while working. Especially to help people who need help in exchange for good care.

As part of our lap around the country we're keen to help out where we can be useful as a way to meet new people, and experience different ways of life to see what else is possible. We especially would love to connect with and learn from other people passionate about nature, permaculture and sustainability to take as much knowledge as we can home with us. A good friend of ours told us about their experiences WWOOFing when they traveled Australia, and it sounded amazing!

Coming from Singapore, almost 100% of our food is imported and city life is very much the norm - there are very little opportunities to interact or experience farm life. As cliche as it sounds, WWOOF is a great opportunity to learn first-hand from owners while getting to integrate myself into the day-to-day lives of Australian families. I'm excited to exchange stories, learn from each other and do my best to contribute! 🙂 While I might not have the most relevant farming experience, I'm eager to learn and help out wherever possible.

We are a hobby farm on the edge of suburbia in Mariginiup and just 37km north of Perth. Our little farm is 3.6acres (1.6 hectares) and consists mainly of paddocks for the horse, trees, two houses and gardens. Our pets include chickens, ducks, parrots, foster cats and kittens, three adult cats, one large fluffy dog and one very small fluffy dog and one horse. We are a Christian family of 7, which is made up of my two young adult kids at home, a young adult friend and her amazing three year old, my Mum (Grandma) and my husband Martin and myself, Cheryl.  I work on my neighbours property, (equineassistedlearning.com.au) , Martin works in the city and sometimes at home and my Mum is retired and involved a lot in the community. We are a 10 minute walk to the bus and that bus will take you to the Yanchep/Mandurah train line where you can travel into Perth city easily.

I have dipped my toe in biodynamic gardening a number of years ago and was really interested in it. Would love to learn more about this practice and others that prioritise working in flow with nature and taking care of it in a sustainable way. I see Wwoofing as a really great way to contribute positively to the country I am travelling in. As well as being a great opportunity to meet like minded people and learn new skills about how you can live more sustainably.

8 acres of native regeneration, organic orchard and Garden. We are on the Banks of the Mongarlowe River where we are nurturing beautiful unimproved native pastures, gardens and an old orchard. We were impacted by the 2019/20 Black Sumer Fires and we working hard to manage weeds and the massive regowth that's occured over the last few years. We are close to the Monga National Park.  An ancient Gondwana remanent forest type and the source of the Mongarlowe River, one of the cleanest rivers in NSW it flows parallel to the escarpment for 40kms before turning inland. This small parcel of land, was cleared agricultural land over 50 years ago, when it subdivided off a large property to build a trout farm that never worked. Patrick purchased this property in 1979, and it’s been slowly regenerating ever since. Over the last 10 to 15 years, it’s reached a point in its regeneration where we are now gardening by subtraction.  There has been so much regrowth that we are in a process of removing and planting vegetation develop this site. We have a large food garden, primarily for personal use.    When fully operational we will sell excess produce, seedlings and seeds at the local markets. We are 17 km from the nearest town - we can provide some transport to and from town where needed.   Woofers with a manual drivers licence or a car of their own would be ideal.

We chose WWOOFing because we love the idea of combining travel with meaningful work and cultural exchange. As physiotherapists, we enjoy being active and helping others, and WWOOFing allows us to contribute in a hands-on way while learning valuable skills. We want to experience sustainable farming, connect with locals, and step outside our comfort zone. Working outdoors, learning new skills, and being part of a community really appeals to us. We also see it as a great opportunity to slow down, appreciate nature, and gain a deeper understanding of different ways of life.
