We also have the occasional possum and bandicoot. Public transport is nearby and we have a lovely village type shopping centre about 10 mins walk away with supermarkets, bakeries and coffee shops. We just need a hand to look after the horses and chickens for a short time each day. We are motivated to discover a new cultures through WWOOFing. Passionate about exchange and sharing, we want to improve our English while living an immersive and enriching experience. This way of traveling also allows us to save money while contributing to agricultural tasks. Curious and eager to learn more about agriculture, we are ready to help with enthusiasm and discover local know-how.

I joined WWOOF to find places to stay in Australia as I travel - my goal is to ground myself through the peace that exists on a working farm, to learn more about the land in Aus, and to meet new people (hosts and others I may cross paths with along the way).

Located in Macclesfield, Vic, Royal Meadows Farm is conveniently located between the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley and is surrounded by rolling hills, farms and natural bushland. An easy and scenic drive to delightful towns such as Olinda, Sassafras, Gembrook, Yarra Glen, Warburton and Healesville, Royal Meadows is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of Victoria. The main activity on our 20 acre farm is the Royal Meadows Equestrian Centre where we agist and train horses. The horses are managed according to equi-central and land regenerative principles. We grow our own hay for the horses and all manure is composted and used either in the veggie gardens or spread on the fields to help replenish the soil. In addition to the horses we also run a number other farming activities – namely breeding a small flock of Suffolk sheep, growing a small orchard, vegetable gardens and raising bees. Careful management of cross grazing different livestock means deep-rooted, healthy pastures, which also leads to rich organic material for gardens and trees. Royal Meadows is built on principles of sustainable living, regenerative agriculture, self-sufficiency and equi-centric horse training. The property is powered by off-grid solar electricity and sustained with the help of captured rainwater. Bush areas have been reserved for native wildlife and as such Kookaburras, rosellas, blue wrens and cockatoos are common and the property is also home to wombats. Don’t be surprised if you also see kangaroos, soaring wedge tailed eagles and the occasional echidna. The accommodation consists of a cosy two-room wing of the house which has both private and shared entrances, a bedroom, private bathroom and lounge area with small kitchenette.

I have a small rural acreage that has been let go that i wish to restore to its previous state. I am vegetarian and do not allow meat on the property but am only 3 minutes from a town. There are native gardens, exotic gardens and a dismal lack of vegies growing.... 🙁 and I would like some help.... The beautiful Mary Valley is 45 mins north east of Noosa, 30 minutes south of Gympie, 10 minutes to Borumba Dam.

I find peace and joy when surrounded by nature, and I have always admired a lifestyle close to it. When I learned about WWOOF, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to experience such a life firsthand. I also enjoy cultural exchanges, meeting new people, and gaining different perspectives. I believe that spending time with hosts and learning from them will be an invaluable experience. Currently, I am at a point in my life where I am exploring what I truly enjoy and the path I want to take in the future. I hope that my time with WWOOF will lead to personal growth and new discoveries. By helping hosts with their daily tasks, I want to express my gratitude and do my best to support their work.

I joined to learn more on growing wholesome organic foods, applying permaculture principles and also I would like to know and learn more of animal husbandry. Using animals as a means of fertilising the soil is an interest I would like to learn more about and apply in my own setting. So becoming a member on Wwoof will be an interesting, challenging and rewarding experience to look forward to and mostly to enjoy learning from what the e Wwoof host has in store for me.

I joined WWOOF because I’ve always been drawn to self-sufficiency, nature, and community. Gardening and growing food are incredibly grounding for me, and I find so much joy in working with the land. I want to learn as much as possible—not just about farming, but about living sustainably and in harmony with nature. City life has never felt like home to me. I crave open spaces, fresh air, and meaningful work, and I’m looking for a place where I can truly connect with the land, animals, and like-minded people. I’ve considered creating my own self-sufficient space one day, and WWOOF feels like the perfect way to gain hands-on experience while being part of a community that shares these values. I love a life of adventure, learning, and purpose—and I know that’s something I won’t find in a typical city lifestyle. I’m excited to be part of something real, to work hard, and to contribute in a way that truly matters.

I’ve always been interested in WWOOFing and have only recently thought to do this in Australia. I am very interested in permaculture, organic farming and am strongly committed to regenerative ways of living and working and am super keen to learn. I hope to learn from people more skilled than I am, and in turn give back through my labour and sharing the impact of what I have learnt. I also always up for an adventure!

Looking for experience and knowledge, hopefully meeting new interesting people along the way. Have previously worked at a farm via wwoof in the South of France in 2015. Did some fruit picking, cooking and gardening along with some light construction work. Enjoyed my time with friends, and I think there’s no better place to try the same than Australia.

I joined WWOOF in the UK many years ago.. I travelled round Scotland WWOOFing, and Pete and I have WWOOFed together in the UK and Spain, before we had kids. Back then I wanted to learn about organic farming and what the life would be like. Having learnt quite a lot in the meantime, I now want to know about all the things listed above, how it all works in reality and in practice, in the Australian environment, so - I have a lot to learn! But we can be really helpful while we learn!

I joined Wwoof to find a place where I can contribute and share authentic moments in harmony. I would love to learn new manual skills, but also gain knowledge about growing fruits and vegetables. We always learn what our soul needs to learn from the people we meet, and I’m also very curious to discover more of these teachings!

I think that volunteering is a super important part of building community and supporting conservation and environmental programs, as well offering so much knowledge to those who take part. I've WWOOFed before in Europe whilst travelling, and currently volunteer once a week at my local conservation committee, and all of these experiences have been invaluable to my understanding of ecosystems and the plants and animals within them, as well as filling me with the joys of spending a day outside getting dirty, making things, and meeting wonderful people!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
