Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques
At 25, I’ve lived a few different lives in France, each one teaching me something valuable. Now, I’m ready for the next chapter, and it’s centered around a few key aspects: Social Aspect: For my personal balance and growth, I’m looking to build stronger social connections with people who share the same values as I do. Wwoofing really resonates with me – the respect for the environment, living in community, and being partly self-sufficient when it comes to energy and resources. It’s all about working and living in a way that’s meaningful and ethical, and I’m excited to be part of that. Professional Aspect and Lifestyle: The different experiences wwoofing offers will help shape my long-term goal of working directly with the land. I’m after something real and hands-on, closer to nature. I’m eager to pick up new skills, challenge myself, and get a feel for what goes into managing different types of farms and sustainable setups. It’s all about doing work that supports the preservation of ecosystems and stepping into the ecological and energy transition we need.

After 10+ years in the finance industry i felt like a change, it was not something i wanted to do for the next 10 years of my life. I have a passion for travelling and meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I have a strong interest now in becoming Self-sufficient as much as possible and living in communities. I left my company in January this year and have been living on an organic farm in Yeppoon, Woofing which has been great. I've developed a strong interest in learning more about permaculture, Bio-dynamics and syntropic farming. I'm now looking to increase my knowledge in these areas by visiting different farms/communities to learn more. I had never heard of Woofing before this year and it's opened my eyes to a whole new world. I feel the idea of Woofing's is incredible as I've realized in my few months on this farm the amount of work that's put in. looking forward to the next adventure.

Here is 5 reasons why we want to do Woofing 1. Discovery of local culture:Woofing allows us to live with Australian families and share their way of life, cuisine, and traditions, providing an authentic cultural experience. 2. Practice English: Since Australia is an English-speaking country, Woofing is an excellent opportunity to improve our English by using it daily. 3. Connection with nature: Australia is renowned for its exceptional natural beauty. By participating in Woofing, we can work outdoors, explore local wildlife and flora, and contribute to environmental preservation. 4. Travel savings: Accommodation and food are typically provided in exchange for our work as Woofers, significantly reducing our travel expenses. 5. Agriculture expérience: we are interested in agriculture, gardening, and animal husbandry, Woofing offers us practical experience in these fields while allowing us to travel. All these advantages make Woofing in Australia a culturally and personally enriching experience for us.

I joined WWOOF because I thought it was a great opportunity to experience life abroad on my own, even as a student. Some of my friends had also participated and shared many wonderful stories that inspired me. I also love nature and breathtaking landscapes, so WWOOF felt like the perfect choice for me.

We have heard so many great things about WWOOFing and have always wanted to have an experience like this. We love learning new things, whether it be about culture, nature, or even about the lives of the people we meet. We love Australia and need to complete our 88 days, and figured, what better way to do it than this!

I want to join WWOOFing because I believe it’s the best way to experience Australia in a meaningful way. Traveling is not just about visiting places for me; it’s about connecting with people, learning new skills, and immersing myself in different lifestyles. I love the idea of giving a helping hand in exchange for a unique cultural experience. Whether it’s working outdoors, taking care of animals, or learning about sustainable living, I’m always eager to contribute and grow. This journey is also an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, challenge myself, and create unforgettable memories with great people. I look forward to meeting amazing hosts and sharing good times together 🙂

I joined WWOOF to hopefully gain some valuable experience in farming and develop greener thumbs. Since I’m 21 years old, I have some ideas about what I want to do in the future, but I always find it valuable to broaden my experiences. Apart from hospitality, I’ve worked with children at summer camp as a trusted adult, and I’ve also worked with elderly care. I hope to make some great memories, gain new ideas, and learn more about myself to figure out what I want to do in life.

I am a 29 year old woman currently living in Jan Juc. I currently live with 2 housemates and I have a dog named Coco who is a beautiful chocolate bits-a-everything. I am currently working as an inhome support worker. I have been on the SurfCoast Victoria for around 7 years and absolutely love everything that this environment provides me with. I am a keen surfer and just love everything about the outdoors and nature. I have studied permaculture and have a keen interested in organic farming and sustainability. I worked as a gardener and landscaper for about 12 months. This passion has become a lifestyle for me and now I am just looking for more hands on experiences to gain extra knowledge for myself and to pass onto others. I really hope to have my own organic farm one day so gathering as many experiences and learning as much as possible through others is the key to filling those hopes and dreams.

I joined WWOOF because I was looking for a short-term (volunteer)job in Australia. I have met so many people during my travel that were VERY enthusiastic about Australia so it got me really curious. I would love to learn more about farm work and gardening and to really be part of the Australian life.

I’ve been interested in farming for a long time because my grandparents used to run a farm. When I was a child, I often helped them out with my cousins, and those moments became some of my most treasured childhood memories. Ever since I decided to go on a working holiday in Australia, WWOOFing has been one of my goals. There are three main reasons why I want to join: 1. I want to experience real farm life and reconnect with those childhood memories. 2. I’m eager to learn new skills and contribute through physical work—I find meaning in working with my hands. 3. I believe staying with local hosts will help me understand a new culture more deeply. Also, I hope to meet the requirements for a second working holiday visa by working for at least three months !

I saw this as an opportunity to possibly pick up a few new skills, bringing my hands on attitude and willingness to just get stuck in to any task. I currently have a month in NSW before I meet with a friend from home and we travel for the Lions rugby tour in July. I would love to utilise this time to get a more personal and cultural experience. Meanwhile, not be moving about every few days and get some time away from the cities as home to me is in the rural country and a smaller well connected town. I have relevant experience on farms as I previously wanted to study veterinary medicine so to gain experience I volunteered on a local farm during lambing season. Being heavily involved in the animal husbandry of sheep, goats, cattle, highland coos and birds. Alongside general farm maintenance, physical labour and finding small tasks to fill my days. It was an incredibly rewarding, hands on opportunity that grew my appreciation for farmers, the work they do and daily challenges they face to be sustainable. I would love to learn more about how agriculture compares to home, your experiences and assist on whatever tasks you need help with.

We have a small soldier settler farm 10km from Kalangadoo, 50km north west of Mt Gambier, SA and approx. 400km south east of Adelaide, SA. Pete’s family have lived / worked the farm for nearly 80 years. We currently background / finish fat composite lambs, irrigation and grow fodder for sale. Our farm consists of 260 acres of relatively flat land with some dams. There are many birds types and with such a natural environment, it is easy to sit and relax when not busy on the farm. We have future plans to upgrade our current pastures. Our 2 dogs, Scruffy is a 9yr old border collie and Basil an 18 month old kelpie. Both are working dogs and are good with all types of people. We have an ongoing vegetable garden and a large orchard area that can always do with some attention. There are small areas of flower garden which are currently being altered to permit easier maintenance. Our home is only 2 years old and WOOFers may choose from 2 rooms and will have a private bedroom with close by bathroom and will share the kitchen/lounge/other areas with Pete and myself, Kaye. Your role while at Moerdale will be assisting Pete with animal husbandry / irrigation and pasture care tasks, general assistance in gardens and help with household tasks. While staying with us, we will offer to take you with us on shopping trips and show you some of the tourist spots in our local region as time constraints permit. Come stay with us if you want a change from city life. We speak English and are happy to help you pick up Aussie lingo while with us. We prefer only 1 WOOFer on the farm at any time due to house size.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
