City/Town: Esperance
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building
We have a 400 acre farm 15min drive from the beautiful town of Esperance, with the most beautiful beaches in the Southern Hemisphere. Our farm is only 7 km from the ocean (as a crow flies). We have bikes available for you to explore the area & its beautiful scenery. Depending on our schedules and how long you stay and jobs on we sometimes show people some beaches or other scenery further out. We also have an industrial property together on the edge of town (less then 5km’s to the ocean and town) depending on housing project we stay there or on the farm. We run cattle, a few horses, dairy goats, chickens, turkey’s & a dog. We grow crops & hay for the cows. We also grow some of our own vegetables, herbs & several fruit trees. Our aim is to become self sufficient. Volunteering can include help with (but is not limited to) feeding cattle, fencing, planting trees, checking, maintaining & installing water infrastructure & general farm maintenance. At times we also have construction and other jobs happening That we need help with. Accommodation for 1-2. Most meals shared, mixed diet. Children b.a. No smoking. Initial stay 2 days to see if it “clicks” but preferably minimum stay of a week. then negotiable. Can pick up from Esperance. We like learning about others people’s culture and foods. During dinner time (or sometimes during jobs if the type of job is suitable to it) we are up for a chat about worldly issues and different perspectives of this. At night we also at times like to play board or card games with the family.

I was told by a family member that WWOOFING would be a great way to see Australia. I don’t know then that I wanted to do farm work. Only recently, after a few weeks of considering farm life did I put 2 and 2 together.

As I already joined WWOOF in India and embarked on different regenerative projects there as well as all around Europe, the enriching experiences gained over the time made us reconsider it as a gateway to projects here on our travels in Australia. Now on the southern hemisphere, with a vision of creating a project of our own, we would love to expand our knowledge and make new connections with unique people. WWOOF is exactly the place for what we are looking for and with all the diversity here, we hope to find a good exchange and be a good one for you too! Every person holds different passions and knowledge, and what better than sharing them while planting some seeds. Wanting to learn from other people but also contribute with our time and effort to the organic and (w)holistic movement, joining WWOOF allow us to be part of a global community that share the same values and vision of the world as us.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering. We appreciate help, enjoy young people and having an excuse to visit the beautiful and interesting places Adelaide, the hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia have to offer with them. We are regularly  booked 3 to 4 months in advance with mostly long-term guests. This should not deter you to ask anyway as booked helpers sometimes cancel their spot. Please read through all the text below and only apply if you think this is for you. We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angas River running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable gardens with free roaming bantams, big layer hens, flower beds, lawns as well as a goat on paddocks and a cute house cat. Bernward is semi retired but still runs a sustainable architecture and building consultancy business part time from offices attached to the home. Barbara works at the local hospital. We have been accommodating helpers since 2011  through various help exchange sites. If you want a break from travelling in a non judgmental  friendly  family environment and you are open and self-motivated, this is the place for you. This is not an action or party place but rather a place to start your journey inward to grow and get to know yourself and your interaction with others. Deep discussions are possible in a relaxed atmosphere. Be creative with great light, & scenery for painting and photography, writing, music and getting back to nature. A big woodworking workshop invites creativity. I enjoy teaching woodworking skills to our helpers with the option to learn how to fit out campervans and tiny houses. A couple of times a week we heat up our Finnish Sauna and helpers are encouraged to join. A great place to open up, listen to yourself and have meaningful discussions. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation  for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. All share in home cooked evening meal. Mixed diet. No smokers please. Longer stays (min 3 weeks) preferred after initial few days.

A couple of reasons. Possibly learn some new skills. But also for the adventure of travel and seeing a new country. But i was especially attracted to WWOOF since my favorite job I have had was working on an organic farm. That work was so rewarding and I really loved being outside and feeling that I have built or contributed something meaningful.

We are an Oyster Farm on Moreton Island. We catch, grow and sell the Rock oysters. The farm is in a National and Marine Park and we generate our own solar power and catch rainwater. Access to Moreton island is via North Stradbroke Island in our boat. We travel to Stradbroke Island on a Thrusday or Friday each week. Please note days here count towards your 88 days, both your second and third year visas are valid under disaster recovery provisions. Our Property: Ours is an interesting and traditional farm, certified organic and biodynamic, set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow some vegetables (mainly for the household), and what is left after the floods, of a mixed fruit and nut orchard. Our animals are our main focus. They include a few Jersey cows, with their calves, a couple of beef steers for meat. And our fledgling herd of beautiful white Galloways. We also have eight heritage breeding sows and three boars, and their offspring. The young grower pigs are sold direct to our much-loved organic butcher. Once every month we should have a new litter, so there are always babies here. Our latest additions are two adorable Nigerian Dwarf goats, Abigail and Eloise, who we hope to put in kid early next year. In addition we are developing a small flock of chickens for eggs and meat. Also 8 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away. Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a four- year-old Maremma, called Baci and an adorable young Smooth-Haired fox terrier, called Dennis.
